Seabiscuit’s Ranch in Willits {Ian + Jennifer Engagement}

I had the pleasure of traveling out to Ridgewood Ranch in Willits California for Ian and Jennifer’s engagement session. Home of infamous Seabiscuit racehorse. We were graciously given access to his fully restored stud ban and horse truck. Near the original Howard residence built in 1905, you can find Seabiscuit’s statue and monument.

The Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation gave us VIP access to the barn and Howard home. They are getting ready to open the grounds up for weddings. So if you’re looking for a beautiful country setting that’s filled with a ton of California history, you might consider getting married here. In terms of photographic opportunities, the choices are abundant. There are big vistas of the grassy valley. There are mossy oak trees, old-growth redwoods, barns, split rail fences. The Craftsman style home is amazing featuring large fireplaces and detailed wooden furniture and decorations. The experience is one of a kind.

I love clients, like Jen and Ian, who want to put in the time and effort to get truly unique photos. From what I understand, we’re the first people out to have professional portraits taken here. Where do you want to go next?
